Question to the experienced members

I already found out, that when I select the This is a minor change Check box, my contributions are marked with the symbol m. I will keep doing this until my Cookie Warning Tutorial is ready to be reviewed.

And while you are at it, is my writing style etc. OK?

Response

Since English is not my native language, I always need some time to find the right expressions as far as possible. BTW, to understand the time shift - I am in Germany, where are you from?

The former question about the checkbox "minor edit": I don't know exactly either, but I assume the same.

There are so-called "Marker Templates" https://docs.joomla.org/JDOC:Local_wiki_templates for various needs. As long as the page is not finished, yet, it is recommended to use the template "Under Construction" and in case of active editing additionally the "In Use". As soon as the page is ready, and you ask for a review, you can change to "Review". This will list your page in the appropriate categories. I have added the marker for "Under Construction".

I don't mean to criticize your writing style - we all have our own ways of expressing ourselves. Just keep in mind that your tutorial may need to be translated into many foreign languages. For example, not every expression or phrase can be translated well and understandably. See also: https://docs.joomla.org/JDOC:How_to_Contribute_to_Joomla!_Documentation (see section 2.1 - 4)

For the composition and structure of your tutorial, you can use already existing pages as orientation. But this is not a must, you are free to create your own page. It should only fit visually well and most importantly be understandable even for foreign countries.

https://docs.joomla.org/J4.x:Adding_a_New_Article
https://docs.joomla.org/Category:Tutorials

Normally, the author suggests the namespace and the appropriate category. An admin confirms this or moves the page to the better fitting place. You define the namespace with the prefix in the URL address: https://docs.joomla.org/<prefix>:<title_of_the_page> as
https://docs.joomla.org/JDOC:Namespaces

Since your tutorial should belong to the J4.x namespace, it will probably get the following address when completed:
https://docs.joomla.org/J4.x:Cookie_Warning_Tutorial

The categories can be added at any time by inserting a line of code (in edit mode) at the end of the source text, or in GUI mode you can add them by clicking on the plus sign (+) (at the very bottom at the end of the last line, just above the footer). If you are not so familiar with the existing categories, the second method is easier, as you will get some help in selecting them. Try to add the category "Tutorials".

So called "Tracker Categories" are added to your page when certain events/alerts occur. In your case it is the two "Pages ..." Categories. They show you that an error was detected in the formatting of your code snippet. Unfortunately, this error appears on more than 6000 pages. It was caused by the upgrade to the current MediaWiki version. The extension GeSHi syntax-highlighter was replaced by the new SyntaxHighlight extension. https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SyntaxHighlight

How familiar are you with wiki syntax? We, the current active authors, have only a humble level of knowledge in this field, so some things don't work as intended. Help in this area would be most welcome. Unfortunately, the former maintainer is no longer available.

The following link addresses translation admis, actually. It might help you to recognize and consider the effort for a translation: https://docs.joomla.org/JDOC:Page_Translation_Explained

If I have some specific tips regarding your tutorial, I will post them on the tutorial talk page.

Welcome to the volunteers

You can create and publish a new page, just like in any wiki.

MarkRS has already shown you, what I think is the wrong way, to contribute here.

I have had quite different experiences than MarkRS. I do not know his attempts to establish contacts. However, I started with translations first. A good way to communicate at this time is Glip (there are some plans to switch to another service provider).
https://docs.joomla.org/RingCentral_(Glip)

Your own userspace is excellent as a playground to test the design of a new page, but is fundamentally unsuitable to bring the Joomla documentation forward. In the Joomla documentation there are a lot of "style guides" which support you and help to avoid unnecessary errors:
https://docs.joomla.org/Category:Documentation_Wiki_Information
https://docs.joomla.org/Portal:Participating_in_the_Community
https://docs.joomla.org/JDOC:How_to_Contribute_to_Joomla!_Documentation

If you have specific questions, then contact one of the administrators:
https://docs.joomla.org/Special:ListUsers?username=&group=sysop&wpsubmit=&wpFormIdentifier=mw-listusers-form&limit=500

You can find the contact data either on the JDOC user pages (please click the name) or in the "Joomla! Volunteers Portal" in the tab "Joomlers". A separate registration is necessary there.
BTW: The user "M-b-o" (Mike Brander) is the current "Teamlead Joomla Documentation".
