This template is for requesting immediate edits to a protected page's content (current requests). If you believe that a desired change warrants advance discussion, please propose it on the protected page's talk page before inserting this template. To request that the page itself be protected or unprotected, please make a request at requests for page protection instead.

This template adds a page to Category:Protected article edit requests.

Usage

Place {{editprotected}} on a talk page to request an edit of the corresponding fully protected page. It should be accompanied by a clear and specific description of the requested change. Providing the new sentences or code in your request, if possible, will expedite the process. The template should not be used on semiprotected pages, as no administrator assistance is required to edit them.

Administrators may decline to make any edit, especially if it is controversial, violates Joomla! Documentation's policy, would break other pages, or does not have evidence of consensus.

The talk page on which the request is placed is automatically categorised into Category:Protected article edit requests. Administrators will check this category for protected edit requests to process. Consider posting a request at Requests for page protection as well, particularly if the edit is controversial or significantly changes the page content.

Recommended action upon resolution

Once a request is handled, it's best to leave the {{editprotected}} tag on the talk page as an un-transcluded tag, for example, by changing it to: {{tl|editprotected}}. This removes the message box from the talk page and removes the talk page from the category, while still leaving a record of the request.
